Motor Capacitors for Washing Machine Motors are used when the appliance has been fitted with an Induction Motor. The Capacitor is responsible for providing the initial start up torque after which it drops out allowing the motor to spin on its own steam. Capacitor values are determined in microfarads which will look like the letters uf printed on the capacitor itself.
